From 1916 to Today
This story began in 1916, when James Duven founded Duven Music and Electric in Northwest Iowa. He established the business in Orange City, quickly building a reputation for excellence in electrical wiring, musical instruments, and electronics.
The Duven name soon became synonymous with quality and service, and it's this deep family connection that inspired us to revive the Duven name for this new venture.

After James Duven's passing, his son, Stan Duven took over in 1938 and faithfully ran the business until his untimely death in 1962. Stan, also a volunteer firefighter for the Orange City Fire Department, gave his life in service to his community. That profound sense of duty and work ethic has remained at the core of our family's identity ever since, as a way to also honor him & his legacy.
Stanley's son, Dennis, considered carrying the business forward, but he meant for a different path. Dennis went on to receive higher education and later went on to work for NASA where he would contribute groundbreaking work in aerospace and defense. His impressive career includes projects like the SATRACK missile tracking system, the SDI Brilliant Pebbles program, and navigation systems for missions like TIMED and New Horizons, to name a few.

Carried on the legacy of Duven Music & Electric & tragically lost his life in the line of duty. Orange City Fire Department & Duven Integration honors his legacy & lasting impact still today.
Scott and Rio Vande Vegte's (founders of Duven Integration) direct lineage in the electrical field continued when Russell Vande Vegte (Scott's father /Rio's grandfather & son-in-law to Stanley Duven) entered the electrical field in 1967 & later founded Russell's Electric in 1973.
Scott grew up working alongside his father, gaining valuable knowledge which set him apart from his peers during his time in college where he rose to place first in the Iowa State VICA Skill Olympics and later another win at the national competition level. Needless to say, Scott had built an impressive skillset at a young age thanks to the legacy of craftsmen he came from.
Since this time, Scott has built up an impressive resume, having been skilled and successful in electrical work, sales, home automation & integration, as well as business consulting & founding. He has had the pleasure to work on some incredible projects in the home automation & integration realm as well as impressive commercial projects. Notably, he has spearheaded work on homes like Peace Harbor in Okoboji, IA, Peace Ranch, in Aspen, CO, & Villa del Pescatore in Gulf Breeze, FL, just to name a few.
Scott is excited to bring his legacy skillset into a new generation with his son, Rio, by his side through Duven Integration.
Rio has also been fortunate to be a part of the legacy by learning the electrical trade through working with his grandfather, Russ, & dad, Scott. Rio also completed higher education in electrical work and worked in a variety of settings include home & commercial. He is excited to bring his hands-on skillset & knowledge alongside his father through Duven Integration as Head of Operations for Duven.

With a hands-on approach and a relentless focus on doing things right, Rio carries forward the family legacy with pride and performance.
