1916 | FIRST GENERATION
James Duven
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
In 1916, James Duven founded Duven Music & Electric in Orange City, Iowa, bringing together his interests in electricity, music, and engineering technology. Known for his forward thinking, James built a business rooted in quality workmanship and dependable service.
James's entrepreneurial spirit & commitment to excellence started a legacy that continues more than a century later.
SECOND GENERATION
Stanley 'Stan' Duven
A LEGACY OF SERVICE
Stanley's sense of duty, work ethic, and care for others remain at the core of our family's identity and continues to inspire us today.
After his father James's passing, Stan took over the Duven Music & Electric Business in 1938 and faithfully ran it until his untimely death in 1962. Stan was also a dedicated firefighter for the Orange City Fire Department, giving his life in service to his community.
THIRD GENERATION
Dennis Duven
INNOVATION BEYOND IMAGINATION
Stanley Duven's son, Dennis, considered carrying the business forward, but his path took him a different direction. He went on to receive higher education and later worked for NASA, where he contributed groundbreaking work in aerospace and defense.
Dennis's impressive career included projects like: the SATRACK missile tracking system, the SDI Brilliant Pebbles program, and navigation systems for missions such as TIMED and New Horizons to name a few.
THIRD GENERATION
Russell Vande Vegte
CRAFTSMANSHIP PASSED DOWN
Russell's influence helped shape the skilled craftsmen and problem-solvers we are today.
Scott's father, and Rio's grandfather, Russell Vande Vegte, entered the electrical field in 1967 and later founded Russell's Electric in 1973. Through his dedication to the trade and commitment to quality, he passed down invaluable knowledge and hands'-on experience to the next generation.
FOURTH GENERATION
Scott Vande Vegte
EXPANDING HORIZONS
Since then, Scott has built an exceptional career in many fields including electrical, sales, home automation & integration, and business consulting. He has led work on incredible residential and commercial spaces such as Peace Harbor, Okoboji, IA, Peace Ranch, Aspen, CO, & Villa del Pescatore, Gulf Breeze, FL.
Scott grew up working alongside his father from a young age, gaining valuable knowledge that set him apart. During his time in college, he placed first in the Iowa Stat VICA Skill Olympics and later won at the national competition level.
FIFTH GENERATION
Rio Vande Vegte
CARRYING THE LEGACY FORWARD
As Head of Operations for Duven Integration, Rio brings a hands-on approach, a strong attention to detail, and a commitment to doing things the way he was taught - right. He carries forward the family legacy with pride & performance.
Rio has been part of the legacy from an early age, learning the electrical trade through working alongside his grandfather, Russ, and his father, Scott. he completed higher education in electrical work and has experience in both residential and commercial settings where his attention to detail stands out.
