Consumer Equipment Freedom Policy

Client-Supplied Equipment Integration Model

At Duven Integration, we believe in giving our clients complete freedom of choice when it comes to their smart home technology. Through our Consumer Equipment Freedom policy, you are welcome to purchase your own devices from any preferred retailer—whether online, from a local electronics store, or a high-end boutique.

We do resell consumer electronics, but we do not require you to purchase devices through us. Instead, our expertise lies in the professional design, installation, integration, and support of those devices into a seamless, functional system tailored to your home.

What This Means:

System Design Still Matters

  • We will still design a complete smart home system, identifying the required components and ensuring all devices are compatible and support your desired functionality.

System Equipment Manifest

  • You will receive a System Equipment Manifest outlining all required components. This includes both client-supplied gear and any supplemental items we may provide (such as cabling, mounts, or specialty hardware).

Professional Installation & Integration

  • We will install, configure, and integrate all approved devices within the system scope. If issues arise due to incompatible, damaged, or unsupported gear, additional labor may be billed separately.

Gear Compatibility & Substitution

  • If the final gear provided differs from the original design, we may require time to reassess compatibility and system performance. Adjustments to scope or pricing may apply

Warranty

  • Duven warrants our services, while equipment warranties are provided directly by the original manufacturers and are subject to their respective policies.

Support & Maintenance

  • Our ongoing support services are available to all systems equipment listed in the System Equipment Manifest, including full support benefits like remote monitoring or advanced troubleshooting.

HOW It Works:

It Starts with Design

During the Consultation & Design phase of your project, we’ll define the entire Bill of Materials (BOM), and develop an Equipment Manifest every device, part, and accessory required to bring your system to life. From there, you decide how that gear gets purchased.

Option 1: Open Sourced Procurement

Buy the gear yourselffrom any vendor, retailer, or marketplace you prefer.

To keep your project running smoothly, just send us:

  • Copies of all purchase receipts or order confirmations

  • Tracking information when available

We’ll take care of:

  • Verifying that everything arrives on time

  • Checking that the models and quantities match the approved BOM

  • Letting you know if anything’s missing or incompatible

Important: Only gear that matches the approved manifest will be accepted for integration. Substitutions must be reviewed in advance.

Option 2: Procurement-as-a-Service

If you desire the turn-key feel but want to have all your gear "shopped" and you'd rather not handle the logistics, we offer Procurement-as-a-Service as an optional flat-fee add-on. For 10% to 20% of the total equipment cost, we’ll manage everything on your behalf — acting as your administrative agent, not a reseller.

We handle:

  • Ordering from approved vendors

  • Aligning deliveries with your installation schedule

  • Tracking shipments and logging serial numbers

  • Registering warranties and assisting with any future claims

Option 3: Contractor Sourced Procurement

Prefer the traditional way? We’ll quote select equipment directly and supply it as part of the project.

You choose whether to:

  • Accept our quote and let us supply the gear

  • Use Open Source Procurement or Procurement-as-a-Service instead

This option is often best for:

  • Infrastructure materials

  • Specialty items

  • System-critical gear where reliability and sourcing control matter most

A Quick Note on Compatibility

To protect system integrity and ensure long-term performance, we may decline to integrate gear that isn’t approved or known to conflict with the design. We’ll always be transparent about what works — and what won’t — during the design phase.

Contact us to discuss your project—we’d love to bring our expertise to your home.
