About Our Legacy: From 1916 to Today
Duven Integration carries forward over a century of dedication to innovation, craftsmanship, and integrity in the electrical and technology space. The story began in 1916, when our great-grandfather James Duven founded Duven Music and Electric in Northwest Iowa. He initially operated an implement business in Maurice before relocating to Orange City, Iowa, where the Duven name became synonymous with quality and service.
After James's passing, his son Stan Duven took over in 1938 and faithfully ran the business until his untimely death in 1962 while serving as a volunteer firefighter with the Orange City Fire Department. He gave his life in service to his community, and that sense of duty and work ethic has remained at the core of our family’s identity ever since.
Although Stan’s son, Dennis Duven was considered to carry the business forward, his mother Francis believed he was meant for a different path — and she was right. Dennis went on to contribute groundbreaking work in aerospace and defense, including the SATRACK missile tracking system, the SDI Brilliant Pebbles program, and navigation systems for missions like TIMED and New Horizons, to name a few.

Meanwhile, our father, Russell Vande Vegte, entered the electrical field in 1967 and founded Russell’s Electric in 1973. Scott Vande Vegte began working with his dad Russell in 1980, launching a lifelong career in the electrical and electronics industry with a strong focus on AVL and systems integration. Rio Vande Vegte joined Russell’s Electric in 2019 and later completed his professional electrical construction training at Northwest Iowa Community College.

A Legacy Reinvented
In 1999, Scott founded his first AVL integration firm and grew it into a multi-office, multi-state operation before selling the company in 2012. His career has spanned national systems work, strategic consulting, and major integration programs — including time with Sweetwater Sound.
Notably, Scott led his company in the AVL design and integration of Peace Harbor House, a regionally iconic luxury residence located on West Lake Okoboji, Iowa. The project stands as a showcase of his deep experience in high-end residential environments — where artists like Vince Gill and Kenny Loggins performed live through the home’s integrated system. That moment sparked Scott’s transition into large-venue AVL design, launching over two decades of success in stadiums, casinos, theme parks, houses of worship, and more.
Backed by decades of experience, we are proud to reintroduce the Duven name through Duven Integration — a modern smart home and AVL firm that blends high-end design with client-first service.
